  3. MUSIC IN THE GARDEN 8/25 – SUMMER CONCERT SERIES

    Mod Society is a collective of professional musicians dedicated to bringing top-quality music entertainment rooted in the jazz tradition for all occasions.  They are one core group of people, with a network of 10+ other musicians who make up the greater collective.  The band configurations are designed to blend jazz, indie rock, classic rock, and contemporary pop to present a unique performance at every event.  Formerly known as Ainslie Street Vibes, Mod Society was founded by Brooklyn based musician Claudio Marquez in 2009 after moving to NYC to further his music career.  Shows start at 7:00pm and include one complimentary glass of wine or beer.  There will be additional beverages, hors d’oeuvres, and desserts available for purchase, catered by COFFEED INC.

    The Brooklyn Bluegrass Collective aims to capture the best of talent and spirit that resides in the roots music community of Brooklyn, New York. Zack Bruce and Jason Borisoff formed the Collective in the fall of 2014 as a way to record and showcase the expanse of musicianship and style that defines the diverse bluegrass community of Brooklyn. As two musicians working in the scene themselves, the acoustic musicians of Brooklyn form a community of vibrant artists who bring a variety of musical insight into the traditional canon of bluegrass tunes. With backgrounds in everything from traditional jazz to Klesmer and zydeco, educations as far-reaching as Berklee School of Music and front porch pickin’, and influences that range from Phish to punk, the musicians you’ll find in this Collective offer an enormous breadth and depth to bluegrass.  Shows start at 7:00pm and include one complimentary glass of wine or beer.  There will be additional beverages, hors d’oeuvres, and desserts available for purchase, catered by COFFEED INC.

    Annie Shaver-Crandell is a visual artist based in Manhattan whose fondness for fresh air and magnificent colors has brought her repeatedly to Planting Fields to paint out of doors. As an art historian in her previous profession, she offers both historical and contemporary approaches to the depiction of landscape and floral themes.
