The Coes Come to Planting Fields

In 1911, W.R. Coe leased Planting Fields estate from the Byrne family. In December of 1913 he purchased the house and 353 acre estate for $625,000. Coe then began the specimen plantings and development of cultivated gardens, horticultural collections and rolling lawns that characterize the property today.
