We’ll share a ribbiting story\, make a froggy craft\, and explore outside to look for where frogs might live. \n8/28 – Bug Safari\nCreeping\, crawling\, flying\, and buzzing—bugs are everywhere! Children will listen to a buggy tale\, create their own insect craft\, and go on an outdoor search for tiny critters. \nSeptember\n9/11 – Marvelous Monarchs\nButterflies are on the move! Children will enjoy a fluttery story\, learn about monarch migration\, and create a winged craft. \n9/25 – Super Seeds\nSeeds may be small\, but they’re full of surprises! We’ll read a seed story\, explore how they travel\, and plant one to take home. \nOctober\n10/9 – Pumpkins\nPumpkins can be big\, small\, bumpy\, or smooth! We’ll enjoy a pumpkin story\, craft something festive\, and step outside to discover these fall favorites. \n10/23 – Nocturnal Animals\nWho’s awake when we’re asleep? We’ll discover the secret lives of nighttime animals through story\, play\, and craft. \nNovember\n11/6 – Amazing Acorns\nTiny acorns can grow into mighty oak trees! We’ll hear an acorn story\, make a nutty craft\, and explore outdoors to see who might be snacking on them. \n11/20 – Fall Forest Fun\nThe forest is full of crunchy leaves and autumn colors waiting to be explored. A fall story\, craft and outdoor adventure will bring the season to life. \nDecember \n12/4 – Winter Birds\nChickadees\, cardinals\, and woodpeckers stay through the cold! We’ll read a birdy story\, craft a feathered friend\, and head outdoors to spot winter birds in action. \n12/18 – Hello Hibernation\nDo animals take long winter naps? Children will discover wildlife in the Bird Sanctuary\, uncover hidden treasures of the historic Main House\, and experience something new and inspiring every day. \nThrough these hands-on explorations\, campers will grow as curious explorers\, problem-solvers\, and budding stewards of the environment – building confidence\, friendships\, and a sense of wonder that will last long after camp ends. \nCampers will take on the role of true Junior Rangers\, solving hands-on engineering challenges\, practicing conservation skills\, and learning real-world ways to care for the environment. Coe was a passionate supporter of ornithology and believed deeply in preserving knowledge and discovery for future generations\, ultimately donating his renowned ornithological collection to Yale University. Inspired by this legacy\, you step into a landscape still shaped by that sense of curiosity — where birds continue to make Planting Fields their home! \nThe experience begins with a guided owl pellet dissection\, uncovering hidden clues within and revealing the intricate relationships between predators\, prey\, and the ecosystems they inhabit. Part detective work\, part science\, this hands-on exploration offers a rare window into how naturalists and researchers piece together the stories of the natural world. \nFrom there\, the focus expands to the remarkable adaptations that allow birds to survive and thrive – from specialized beaks and feathers to hunting strategies\, flight patterns\, and unexpected behaviors. You’ll also explore the many species that can be found throughout Planting Fields and how they move through the landscape across the changing seasons. \nAlong the way\, you’ll learn how to identify common birds and recognize the subtle signs and sounds that reveal wildlife all around you\, carrying those observations beyond the day into your own backyard and local green spaces. \nThe journey continues on a guided walk through the grounds to the Wedell Garden and Costich Bird Sanctuary\, home to Planting Fields Foundation’s inaugural Catalyst exhibition\, The Great Bird Blind Debate by Mark Dion and David Brooks. As you move through the landscape\, you’ll search for birds and traces of wildlife\, experiencing the estate from a shifting perspective. Rechtman\nColeman: Tzigane\nNielsen: Wind Quintet Op. 43 \n  \nThis woodwind quintet program moves between refined elegance and lively celebration\, each instrument shining with its own irresistible personality.  \nIt opens with Jacques Ibert’s Trois Pièces brèves\, a set of sparkling miniatures that showcases the ensemble at its most playful. The energy deepens with Mozart’s Serenade in C minor\, heard here in a brilliant wind quintet arrangement by Mordechai Rechtman. One of Mozart’s most dramatic chamber works\, the serenade brims with stormy intensity and an operatic sense of dialogue.  \nValerie Coleman’s Tzigane brings a burst of rhythmic fire and folk-inspired flair. Drawing on Eastern European dance traditions\, the piece whirls with virtuosity and bold character. The program closes with Carl Nielsen’s beloved Wind Quintet\, a work that celebrates the individuality of each instrument while reveling in the warmth of their collective sound. Their talented musicians\, hailing from prestigious organizations such as the New York Philharmonic\, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra\, Carnegie Hall’s Ensemble Connect\, and the Steinway Artist Roster\, are not only masters of their craft but also youthful\, enthusiastic advocates for classical music. LICM was founded in 2020 by husband-and-wife musicians Eric Huckins and Gergana Haralampieva alongside composer Nick DiBerardino with the mission of making professional classical music of the highest caliber accessible to Long Island audiences. \n \nLICM performs chamber music at local venues across Long Island including concert halls\, parks\, libraries\, churches\, museums\, and community centers. LICM works closely with its community partners to create concert programs that are relevant and compelling to audiences. Each concert showcases a variety of instrumentations drawing from LICM’s artist roster of over 20 professional musicians. LICM is strongly committed to programming works and featuring musicians from historically underrepresented communities in the classical music field. \nLICM provides a variety of highly interactive educational concerts and residencies in schools\, libraries\, and community centers that focus on fostering a love and understanding of classical music for all ages. \nLICM musicians are all drawn from Carnegie Hall’s Ensemble Connect\, the New York Philharmonic\, Boston Symphony Orchestra\, Astral Artists\, Concert Artist Guild and several other of the country’s most prominent musical institutions. In addition to being leaders in their art form\, LICM musicians are teaching artists\, entrepreneurs\, and socially-minded advocates for classical music.   \nLong Island Chamber Music is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
