Alexandra Calabro and Motomi Igarashi – Violin and Lute

Join us for an afternoon of classical music at Planting Fields performed by Alexandra Calabro, violin, and Motomi Igarashi, lute, on October 8, 2020, from 3:00-5:00PM. The duet will be performing from the repertorie of classical and baroque style music. Calabro is trained in violin, viola, viola d’amore, mandolin, and erhu. She specializes in baroque playing and is a steadfast advocate for the historically informed study of music before 1750. She has performed extensive baroque repertoire at numerous venues such as LIU Post, Queens College, Hofstra University, Molloy College, and Stony Brook University, also having performed internationally.  Igarashi, a native of Japan, has played the double bass since she was 12. She received first prize at the Aspen Music Festival Double Bass competition, has given double bass solo recitals and appears as a concert soloist with orchestras in the USA, England and Japan. Motomi studied double bass with Eugene Levinson at the Juilliard School. Location of their performance to follow!  Please bring a blanket or chair for leisurly seating, masks are recommended, and social distancing is required.
