Panorama and Oyster Bay Music Festival Present: The Zandieh Trio

Panorama at Planting Fields is thrilled to host The Zandieh Trio in partnership with the Oyster Bay Music Festival (www.oysterbaymusicfestival.org) for a stunning performance recorded within Coe Hall. Guests will enjoy a screening of this performance via Zoom, and hear from the performers about their experiences playing in the space, including Christopher’s experience playing on Mai Coe’s Steinway piano. This performance is part of a week-long presentation of a classical music performance intensive program for 35 highly gifted and prize-winning young musicians, ages 10-25. Following in the Footsteps of Maria Sibylla Merian

How can you catch a glimpse of a butterfly? Native plants are the key. Learn about how to create a butterfly garden at home, and learn about the dynamic history of art and science pioneer Maria Sibylla Merian. Explore the life and work of this 17th Century female entomologist, who held a successful career as an artist and scientist in a time when women rarely held such roles. In 2018, Shinichi Nakahara, an entomologist who studies Neotropical butterfly systematics, was part of the team that discovered an unnamed butterfly from Panama, which was later named Catasticta sibyllae in honor of Maria Sibylla Merian. Shinichi will shine light on the life and work of Merian, and speak about his work and how the Catasticta sibyllae got.....Read More

Leave life's stresses behind for an hour and find grounding through yoga on our rolling Olmsted lawns. Bring a mat, a blanket or props, and a water bottle and please plan to arrive 10 minutes early. Masks recommended, social distancing required.
