Free July Scavenger Hunt!
July 4 – July 27
Free, no registration required!
All site-wide

Celebrate Independence Day all July-long with a self-guided scavenger hunt across the grounds of Planting Fields! Each stop reveals a story of independence, resilience, and the natural world—woven through our historic landscape.

Your Goal:
Find 5 stops (see image to left!), collect a letter at each one, and unscramble the mystery word.
Then return to the Visitor Center (open Friday – Sunday from 10am – 4pm) and enter the word into our alphabet-lock box to claim your prize: a vintage Planting Fields postcard! (1 per participant, while supplies last).

How It Works:
– Your first clue is below—use it to find Stop #1.
– At each stop, look for a QR code sign to scan.
– The page will give you your next clue and a letter.
– Keep going until you’ve collected all 5 letters.
– Unscramble the final word and return to the Visitor Center!

Your First Clue:
“They came in spring and fall to this grand estate,
With gardens in bloom and time to celebrate.
A house of stone, both bold and wide—
Start your quest where the Coes once arrived.”
Hint: Head to the front entrance of the Main House!

Prize Info:
The final word opens a letter-lock prize box at the Visitor Center. Inside: vintage postcards from the archives—yours to keep! Please note: prizes are only available Friday – Sunday, between 10am and 4pm.
