First Fridays: Holiday Magic at the Main House

Beginning at the Welcome Pavilion, check in begins 15 minutes prior. 
This tour will partially take place on gravel and uneven ground and inside the Main House. Rain or shine. All tickets final sale. 

Experience the magic of the holiday season at the Main House!

On this special guided tour led by Education Manager, Erin Fitzpatrick and Executive Assistant and Operations Manager, Toni Barnes, participants will begin inside the Main House, where they’ll explore this year’s festive transformation and discover how the holiday décor came together. We’ll share the inspiration behind this year’s look and theme, as well as the thought behind the plants and materials selected from the grounds to create the displays throughout the 65-room Tudor Revival historic house-museum.

After experiencing the finished décor, guests will head outside for a stroll through the grounds to see where many of the natural materials used throughout the Main House were harvested and learn more about how the landscape inspired this year’s holiday design. The tour will conclude in the parking lot, where guests can easily return to their cars.

This monthly series dives into the various themes that make up Planting Fields, with exclusive behind-the-scenes walking tours and workshops led by Planting Fields Foundation and New York State Parks staff, who are experts in their respective fields. From wellness and Olmsted landscape features to the life-stories of Coe family members and their unchallenged spectacular horticultural, historic and personal collections, participants of this series will see this site with a new lens. Each month a new theme is explored with at least one staff expert serving as your guide. This series will take place on the first Friday of each month.

All ticket sales final. Outside tours will continue in the case of light rain. Should weather become inclement, tour participants will be notified and the tour will be rescheduled.
