The Great Backyard Bird Count

Planting Fields will serve as a host for the National Audubon Society’s Great Backyard Bird Count, taking place February 18 – 21. This nationwide effort asks local communities to aid local bird populations by spending time outdoors, counting, and submitting findings. Your participation gives scientists the data they need to protect dwindling local species.
Planting Fields’s 409 acres of protected land is perfect for spotting local birds, especially in the Carl F. Wedell Bird Sanctuary. While birding, also enjoy The Great Bird Blind Debate, featuring installations by the renowned artists Mark Dion and David Brooks.
