What’s Out There Weekend: Olmsted on Long Island Reception
October 21, 2022 | 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Planting Fields Foundation is proud to partner with The Cultural Landscape Foundation to bring you a weekend of exceptional Olmsted experiences. In addition to compiling a guidebook of Olmsted-designed sites on Long Island, this partnership also brings the opportunity to participate in private tours of the sites listed in the new publication. Tour sites include public parks such as Caumsett State Park, Bayard Cutting Arboretum, and Cold Spring Harbor Lab, as well as unprecedented access to privately owned Olmsted-designed sites including cemeteries, waterfront private estates, and other sites that are not usually accessible to the public. During these visits, site experts will give in-depth tours of each location.
We are excited to celebrate with participating sites including Bayard Cutting Arboretum, Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, Conklin Amphitheater (Seminary of the Immaculate Conception), Dosoris Cemetery, La Selva, A Lattingtown Gold Coast estate, Locust Valley Cemetery, Memorial Cemetery of St. John’s Church, Munsey Park Incorporated Village, Oheka Castle, Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park, The Creek, and Welwyn Preserve, as well as other distinguished guests. We look forward to this opportunity to gather, to strengthen the bonds that exist between all sites that the Olmsted Firm shaped and influenced, and to celebrate their shared histories.
