Step into the luminous world of stained glass as conservator and artist Alyssa Fiehel takes guests behind the scenes of one of the oldest and most captivating art forms in history. In this special edition of Creative Spirits, Alyssa will explore the evolution of stained glass, the intricate craftsmanship behind its creation, and the delicate, hands-on work required to preserve these historic masterpieces for future generations.
The evening will feature an exclusive look at the recent restoration of one of the historic stained glass windows in the Main House at Planting Fields. Guests will discover how decades of discoloration had dimmed the window’s brilliance and how Alyssa’s meticulous conservation work, including new lead came, deep cleaning, and the installation of protective plate glass, brought the centuries-old window back to life, allowing its rich colors and radiant light to once again shine as they were meant to be seen.
Part history, part art, and part preservation story, this immersive evening offers a rare opportunity to experience the intersection of craftsmanship and conservation while enjoying themed cocktails inspired by the artistry of stained glass.
