Owl Prowl at Planting Fields

This program is at capacity. Hoo hoo...October is Owl Month!  Come to Planting Fields for an evening owl prowl led by Jennifer Wilson-Pines and Peggy Maslow, bird educators from the North Shore Audubon Society. Jennifer and Peggy will lead you on a guided walk along the grounds in search of the Great Horned Owl and the Screech Owl that inhabit Planting Fields. The walk will start promptly at 6:00 PM and leave from the Visitor Pavilion.  Bring a flashlight or be prepared to use the flashlight feature on your phone. Maximum capacity is 15 people. Open Air Yoga with Kaitlyn

The lawns and gardens of Planting Fields offer a serene backdrop for the practice of yoga.  Bring your mat, a blanket or props, and a water bottle, and please plan to arrive 10 minutes early. Masks recommended, social distancing required. All registrants will receive an email with class location in advance of the session. Classes are for all levels and led by certified instructors from Oyster Bay Yoga and Glen Cove Yoga. Birds and Design: Native Plants and Illustrations

Birds are intricate creatures of vast and varying of beauty, captivating to watch and artistically inspiring. This Panorama virtual program discusses the theme of birds and design from two points of view presented by Paul Singer and Peggy Maslow from North Shore Audubon Society. Paul will share perspective on visual arts and the life and legacy of his father, famous bird illustrator, Arthur Singer. Peggy will present design ideas and strategies for adding native plants to your garden to create a welcoming haven for birds in your backyard. Register For The Event

Twilight Tour with Vincent Simeone and Pat Oliver

Join us for awe-inspiring exploration of fall foliage at Planting Fields, guided by Vincent Simeone, Director of Planting Fields Arboretum, and Master Gardener and Planting Fields Garden Guide, Pat Oliver. The afternoon will begin with refreshments in the Cloister Garden from 4:30-5:00 PM.  Afterwards all guests will form two groups and each will experience a tour with both of our expert guides. The Great Bird Blind Debate Slide Slam

Evergreen Wreath-Making Class

Floral designer, Madeline Yanni leads a seasonal workshop in the Great Hall on how to create and decorate your own evergreen wreath using natural and festive materials. She will demonstrate how to use your wreath as a holiday table centerpiece and share other ideas for making the most of your creation. Take your new festive wreath home at the end of the class! Natural Ornament-Making Class

Get into the spirit of the holiday season making a variety of ornaments for home decoration or handmade gifts. In this class you will learn how to create marble paint glass ornaments, dried botanical blend ornaments with aromas that last for years, mini-topiaries, paper angels and more.
