Each session offers a new theme with nature stories, creative crafts, and outdoor play, perfect for making special memories together in the gardens and grounds of Planting Fields!

Branches in Bloom: A Spring Festival Celebrating Arbor Day

This year, visitors are invited to experience Branches in Bloom, a new spring festival taking root at Planting Fields. Centered on the spectacular collections of magnolias and flowering cherries near the expansive lawn west of the Main House, the festival showcases hundreds of trees at the height of their bloom: an unforgettable celebration of spring in full flower!

Guests can enjoy educational displays and demonstrations, guided tours of the historic grounds, live performances, music, and family-friendly activities throughout the day. It’s a chance to slow down, explore, and fully immerse yourself in the beauty of the landscape as it awakens for the season!

The Art of the Graft: Hands-On Grafting Workshop with Sam Van Aken

Join us for an immersive two-hour workshop, where participants will explore the rich history and techniques of grafting, learn how internationally acclaimed artist Sam Van Aken weaves this centuries-old practice into his artwork. Each participant will graft their own apple tree to take home and plant, creating a living connection to this unique experience!

The ultimate summer outdoor adventure at Planting Fields returns July 2026!

Campers will dive into nature-based play, creative arts and crafts, and sensory activities that spark curiosity and a love of the outdoors. They’ll explore gardens and woodlands, connect with plants and animals, and learn simple ways to care for nature—all while having fun, building confidence, and discovering the joy of the natural world.

Campers will step into the role of true Junior Rangers, tackling hands-on engineering challenges, practicing conservation skills, and learning real-world ways to care for the environment. Along the way, they’ll enjoy creative arts and crafts, build nature awareness, and grow as confident, curious environmental stewards!

August Art Series

Ignite your child’s imagination this summer with our August Art Series! This four-class program invites young artists to explore a variety of creative techniques while celebrating nature and self-expression. Sign up for three classes and get the fourth one free!
