Yoga in the Garden
Planting Fields Arboretum 1395 Planting Fields Rd, Oyster Bay, NY 11771, NY, NY, United StatesPractice your yoga and connect with nature in the beauty and serenity of Planting Fields. Each class will be held in a different area of the grounds to offer a unique experience each time! Classes are for all levels and led by certified instructors. Please bring your yoga mat, water bottle and plan to arrive at least 10 minutes early. In the event of rain, the class will be held inside Coe Hall or the Hay Barn. The specific location within the gardens will be shared at check in.
Nature Sundays for Kids: Radiant Rainforest
Radiant Rainforest Join us for an exciting journey through our main greenhouse and learn about the various plants including the banana plant and chocolate tree. Learn about the animals and layers of the rainforest. Afterwards, stay for a rainforest craft. For children ages 5 years and older. All Nature Sundays are FREE admission with $8 parking fee. First Women of Song with Our Band
Our Panorama series hosts Sasha Papernik and Justin Poindexter from Our Band for an evening of musical performance and cultural history. Join us to hear the duo perform tunes by female composers of the turn of the century and discuss how genres were blending during the American Modernist movement and the Gilded Age. Defined by innovation and the inequities that followed, the musical scene of the early twentieth century marked a collision of cultures at a vigorous speed, with a mixing of genres and a rise of new voices. Join Helen Selsdon, Archivist at the American Foundation for the Blind, in a discussion about Helen Keller’s activism, as we view a copy of one of her speeches and recognize the centennial anniversary of the 19th amendment and women's constitutional right to vote. Join this Juncture series LIVE concert in the gardens of Planting Fields. Steeped in the tradition of great male and female duets such as Johnny Cash and June Carter, Sasha Papernik and Justin Poindexter bring their award-winning songwriting, intimate harmonies, and Eastern-European flair to a rich Americana soundscape. Together, they have performed for audiences in some of the world’s greatest venues, from Carnegie Hall to Lincoln Center to the Smithsonian Museum of American art. Twilight Tour
This event is now at maximum capacity. Enjoy an evening at Planting Field with a friend, family member, or a special someone by joining our first Twilight Tour of the season. Bask in the golden hour while exploring our late summer gardens guided by Vinnie Simeone, Director of Planting Fields Arboretum, and Master Gardener and Planting Field Garden Guide, Pat Oliver. The evening will start with refreshments in the Cloister Garden from 6:00-6:30 followed by a stroll led by the experts that will create a night to remember.
