Monarch Migration Workshop

Join us as we release our Monarch Butterflies to continue their journey south!  Participants ages 4 - 10 will make a butterfly-themed craft, view and assist in a butterfly release, adventure throughout the park, learn more about the lifecycle of butterflies, and go home with a special surprise!  

An Evening with Dr. Michael Dirr

Join us at Coe Hall for an enlightening evening with Dr. Michael A. Dirr, a world-renowned horticulturist, lecturer, and author from the University of Georgia. With numerous publications to his credit, including the widely acclaimed book Manual of Woody Landscape Plants, Dr. Dirr is a leading authority on woody plants.

Cultivating with Purpose: Exceptional Woody Plants for Today’s Landscape

Join us for an all-day conference with renowned horticulturists Dr. Michael A. Dirr, Lynden Miller, Landscape Designer and Author, and Vincent Simeone, Director of Planting Fields Arboretum, as we explore the latest developments and introductions of woody plants, designing with shrubs, alternatives to common evergreens, as well as time-honored shrubs for landscape use. Breakfast, snacks, and lunch will be provided, and a silent auction will take place. A Wine and Cheese Walking Tour will take place at 4:45pm.

Join us for Community Day at Planting Fields and contribute to the preservation of this beloved site while enjoying a day of community spirit and environmental stewardship.

Preservation and Healing: An Art Conservator’s Journey

Based on her just-published memoir, "DWELL TIME: A Memoir of Art, Exile, and Repair," Rosa Lowinger will explain how repairing key elements of architecture, including mosaics, murals, and decorative cast stone, terracotta and ironwork, serves as a metaphor for personal healing after loss, particularly of one’s home.

Winter Birding 101 Workshop

Winter Birding 101 Workshop Sunday, December 22 10am – 12pm Ages 5 – 12. $25 per child. Located at Planting Fields Foundation's Education Center at the historic Laundry Building     Discover everything you need to know about birds at the Winter Birding 101 Workshop. Participants will learn birding basics, how birds survive over the winter, and how we can help support them on their migration journeys! They’ll also make their very own bird feeder to bring home and a handmade native bird identification guide, with a special surprise!    This is a drop-off program. Parks are for everyone – even our littlest learners! Join us as we explore the wonders of winter with "The Snow Show" by Carolyn Fisher and a snow-inspired craft! This program is for ages 2 – 5.

Delight in music by Mozart, Bruch, Esmail, Beethoven and Dohnanyi inside the magnificent Great Hall of the Main house at Planting Fields!

Wednesday Workshops: Winter Wellness

This exciting drop-off workshop for kids (aged 5 – 12) combines fitness, creativity, and healthy habits in a way they’ll love. Participants will embark on an outdoor winter fitness quest, learning fun exercises and routines to keep them active and energized.
